GUILDED Velvet Sofa Concept
A sculptural anchor for social living rooms
An exploration into the fluid dynamics of modern living spaces. This concept replaces rigid sofa geometry with an embracing silhouette that naturally orients people toward conversation.
Design Story
The project began with interviews of 42 households who reported that their living rooms looked polished but felt socially fragmented. The design team translated these insights into a radial seating profile that subtly encourages eye contact. A reclaimed oak armature supports layered foam densities, creating seat zones for short social visits and extended evening use. Every seam line was positioned to reduce visual noise, allowing the sofa to read as a single sculptural body inside open-plan homes.
